FaceBlock

I recently went through a phase of making crafts with fabric paper. I love it, so many cool things to make. I made this block for Georgia when she was just a tiny baby. I read somewhere that babies like to look at close-up pictures of peoples faces - who better to stare at than her family?! I cropped our faces using Photoshop and then printed the pictures onto the fabric paper using our inkjet printer. Sew it up, stuff with stuffing & done.

Hearts in Her Hair

One of my favourite blogs is Katie Did. Lots of great crafty ideas and Katie is an amazing seamstress - check out the clothes she's made for her girls. She did a very sweet post on how to make a very simple heart head band for Valentine's day. Lucy and I made one - took about 20 minutes to make. Over the top cute! I imagine one could make many different versions of this. Hmm.

Scratch Foam Block Prints

I saw this awesome art project on a blog and immediately starting planning my version of it. Lucy was just starting to draw some pretty amazing things so it was perfect timing to capture some of her art work. Looks pretty impressive, doesn't it? It's actually a fairly easy project. In a nutshell, you draw a picture into styrofoam with pencil, paint the styrofoam, press painted styrofoam onto paper. That's it. Easy. I can't wait to make one of these with Georgia.

A rabbit?

Lucy & Georgia had a brown onesie with a cute little rabbit appliqued onto the front of it. This little guy is my take of the onesie rabbit. I think it's a rabbit. Not sure, what do you think?

A labour of love

I've always wanted to make a duvet cover for someone. I also was going through an embroidery kick so I combined the two and made a duvet cover for Lucy. I used two flat sheets that we already had Lucy and I discussed which images we'd like to put on it. I was quite pregnant with Georgie when I started this but the goal was to get it done before Georgia was born. Didn't happen. I did finish it a few weeks later though - mostly while nursing Georgia. Talk about multi-tasking!

I'm quite proud of this project. The end result is pretty good I must say and is holding up really well considering it's used every day. Favourite block is the crocodidle (that's how Lucy says it).

I love Georgia

Since Lucy and Georgia share a room, it was about time that Georgia had some things to call just her own. For this past Christmas, I made Georgia this fabric pennent to hang over her crib. I had a bunch of pieces of fabric which I've had forever that I used up.

In case you can't see the letters, it says, "I (heart) Georgia. I really do.

Tiny Art

Do you know the website called Tiny Showcase? Friends of mine from work introduced me to the site and I became slightly obsessed with it. Each week artists create a small run of "tiny" art - usually available for reasonable prices.

This got me thinking that I would like some art work for Lucy's room. So, I asked friends and family to create a "tiny piece of art" that we could hang in the baby room. We supplied the canvases and the rest was up to everyone else. We were pretty pleased with the end results and Lucy now has a bunch of original art! Hard to pick which one is my favourite but I do like the bunny one from Christine and the birds from Meriah. A special mention goes to Julie's umbilical clip flower.

Fabric Block

This is one of the first toys I made for Lucy. It's a fabric block made out of muslin, stuffing and embroidery floss. I think this is one of my all time favourites. Each of the six sides has an embroidered object on it including a smiley pear, Charlie, owl in a tree, alien, Brad and a cute blue bird. Also kind of grubby but at least it's well loved. Currently resides in Georgia's crib.

Clara

I made this doll for Lucy while I was pregnant with Georgia. She's pretty cute even if she is a bit grubby. Long skinny legs and arms with a dress made from fabric from Smoking Lily. Lucy named her Clara because that was one of the names we had for Georgia. Obviously we didn't choose it.
